Women in Engineering

This scholarship was created to enable highly qualified female engineering students to pursue a Master’s degree program offered by RWTH International Academy. It is our goal to facilitate gender equality among international students of English-taught Master’s degree programs in engineering.

A complete scholarship application consists of:

  • Regular application for the Master’s Degree program submitted through the RWTHonline application portal
  • Certificate stating that the applicant is among the best 15% bachelor degree holders of their batch or if not applicable a cumulative grade point average over 1.7 is required (converted to the German grading system)
  • Certificate stating basic German knowledge (A1).
  • Letter of intent for the scholarship (500 words)
In your letter of intent, you should specify your motivation for applying for this scholarship. Your letter of intent should follow a clear, logical structure. You should answer the following question in an engaging and creative manner:

“What is your self-perception as a woman in the field of engineering and what are your personal future goals? How will this scholarship empower you and how do you plan to empower others by holding this scholarship? What action would you take in your role as an ambassador among female engineers?”

A certificate stating that the applicant is among the best 15% bachelor degree holders of their batch is required. This certificate should be issued by the university. If this is not possible, a cumulative grade point average over 1.7 is required. The application form contains a converter. The scholarship commitee reserves the right to re-validate the score.

A certificate stating basic German knowledge of German is required. This level should at least be equal to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level of A1. The certificate should be awarded by a language institute. Language classes taken during university studies can be proven by uploading your transcript of records.
